The Most Important Events & Tradeshows after COVID

There can be little doubt in anyone’s mind that Covid-19 has had a profound effect on society. An impact that shackled us for the best part of 18 months. Restrictions on movement and social distancing kept us virtually imprisoned. But unfortunately, the measures also wreaked havoc in another aspect of our lives that are not so apparent, events and trade shows.

Additionally, exhibitions and trade events are essential tools for businesses to showcase their products and services to a targeted audience and to be able to meet potential customers or business partners face to face. With the Covid-19 measures being gradually lifted, these events are now resuming.

To help you plan for the post-Covid events calendar, let’s have a look at a few of the most significant shows that will be held in Dubai and surrounding areas over the coming months.

EXPO 2020

This has been arguably the most anticipated event in the United Arab Emirates since it was awarded to Dubai in November 2013. Originally scheduled to run from October 2020 to April 2021, it was postponed due to Covid. However, it eventually opened on October 1st, 2021, and will run until March 31st, 2022.

According to the expo2020dubai.com web page, “more than 200 participants will be including nations, multilateral organizations, businesses, and educational institutions. To date, 191 nations from across the world have confirmed their participation at Expo 2020.”

This is one that you really shouldn’t miss. It’s an opportunity to rub shoulders with leaders in industry and the educational sphere. It will be showcasing the latest innovations, state-of-the-art technology, humanitarian, and environmental initiatives, and much more.

Also, the expo also features more than 200 restaurants and plenty of entertainment. So, there is something for everyone. And it’s brought to you in a way that only Dubai can pull off. It’s huge.

Gulfood

Hosted by Dubai World Trade Center in February 2022, this is one of the most exciting trade shows in the food and beverage industry. With an estimated 5,000 exhibitors, Gulfood is expected to attract around 100,000 visitors. As one of the first events of this type in the post-Covid era, this one is sure to be watched very closely.

It is also likely to be seen as an opportunity for the industry to press the reset button and make a fresh start in this “new normal” world. If you have any interest in the F&B world, do not miss this show. Everyone is hungry for a recovery in the hospitality industry. This will probably be evident in suppliers’ and clients’ willingness to find common ground in new negotiations.

Arab Health

This bi-annual show is one of the major corporate events in the medical and pharmaceutical sectors. Indeed, it is the most famous show of its kind in the region. With almost 3,000 exhibitors, it will be expected to host around 1,000 visitors in executive and senior management positions in the global healthcare industry.

Several conferences take place alongside this exhibition. The most notable conference is the Arab Health Congress which hosts a large number of medical practitioners from all over the world. The theme of this conference is diabetes and related illnesses and is highly recommended for anyone involved in the healthcare sector.

Careers UAE

Another event that may provide some defining insight into a post-Covid world is Careers UAE, dubbed “The UAE leading recruitment and job fair.” The estimated 100 exhibitors include education and training institutions as well as employers in more than 20 industries.

Furthermore, are particularly interested to see how the larger employers may have adapted their employment landscape following the experiences of Covid-19. In the aftermath of a year-long hiatus affecting the entire global economy, employers’ approach to remote working and continued social distancing may well pave the way for a sustainable new way of working.

Summing It All Up

In conclusion, we have only touched on a small sample of the exhibitions and corporate events set to take place in the UAE in the foreseeable future. We have, however, highlighted those that we believe are must-attend events or those that we feel will reflect how we are adapting to the anticipated “new normal”.

There is no doubt that many things we took for granted before the outbreak of Covid-19 will now be a little different. These exhibitions are a wonderful opportunity for us to re-energize ourselves for the challenges awaiting us. We feel that is important for everyone to make an effort to attend these upcoming shows.

Apart from the events we have featured here, there are dozens of other events on the calendar over the next year or so. Events that cover almost every aspect of our lives and the world that we live in. Rest assured, whatever your interest, there is something for.
